TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- Taiwan will not get much respite from rain as a new weather front is set to arrive on Thursday (May 9), while two new tropical depressions have formed in the South Pacific, potentially impacting the country in the future.

Northeasterly winds, which have been bringing cooler temperatures to Taiwan are expected to weaken today, leading to a slight rise in temperatures during the day. Another weather front is expected to arrive on Thursday, but because its structure is loose, the probability of thunderstorms is low.

On Thursday and Friday (May 10), northern and eastern Taiwan will likely see brief periods of rain, while scattered showers are likely in southern Taiwan. Lows today across Taiwan will range between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius, while the high in northern Taiwan will reach 25 degrees.

Eastern Taiwan will see highs ranging between 26 and 27 degrees, while central and southern Taiwan will see highs climb to between 28 and 30 degrees. As the wet weather continues, cloudy skies and scattered showers are likely across northern, central, and eastern Taiwan, as well as mountainous areas of southern Taiwan.

On Saturday (May 11), the weather will begin to stabilize as the weather front leaves Taiwan. Most areas will see partly cloudy to sunny skies, with only eastern Taiwan possibly seeing scattered showers.

In addition, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) reports that two tropical depressions have formed in the South Pacific on Tuesday (May 7). At 8 p.m. on Tuesday, TD05 was located in the Philippine Sea moving northwest at a speed of 16 kilometers per hour and packing maximum sustained winds of 43 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 72 kilometers per hour.

TD06 is located east-southeast of Guam, moving northward at a speed of 6 kilometers per hour and packing maximum sustained winds of 43 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 72 kilometers per hour.
