Taiwanese companies recognized, ink deals at Consumer Electronics Show 2019


TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Eight Taiwanese startups won innovation awards at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 (CES 2019) event in Las Vegas last week, reported CNA.

More than US$6 million (NT$185 million) in deals were made with Taiwanese companies at the event, with Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) suggesting that up to US$4 billion in opportunities could come about over time.

MOST led a delegation of 44 Taiwanese companies to the leading technology trade show, which was held from Jan. 8 to Jan. 11. The ministry said that the Taiwan Tech Arena pavilion attracted significant investment interest throughout the event.

The Taiwanese delegation focused on six areas: advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, security and software, smart healthcare, and wearable devices.

Taiwan’s EleClean Co. (創淨科技), Genius Holdings Co. (傑尼斯控股), Gintel Tech (禾生科技), Han-Win Technology Co. (漢穎科技), Lubn (樂邦安控), OmniEyes (行動影像平台), Starwing Technology Co. (天奕科技), and Taiwan Main Orthopedic Biotechnology Co. (台灣骨王生技) were awarded the CES 2019 Innovation Award.

Tech company Lubn also claimed the Trend Forward Capital Forward Thinker Award, which came with a US$10,000 prize.

In highlighting the success of the delegation, MOST said that electronic drum set manufacturer Awowo (德侑科技) received an order worth US$1 million, and Gintel Tech (禾生科技) received orders worth US$5 million for their water testing techniques.

Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, Hsu Yu-chin (許有進), said that four other Taiwanese companies, Genius Holding Co., Gintel Tech, Lubn, and OmniEyes participated in international press events, showcasing and promoting Taiwan’s tech prowess.
