TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Riding the Green Mountain Line of the Danhai Light Rail will be free of charge for at least one month, starting at 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 24, according to a news release recently posted by New Taipei Metro Corporation (NTMC), which is responsible for operation of the new light rail line.
The operating hours of the Green Mountain Line, which is the first light rail line in northern Taiwan, are from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day of the week, with trains running at 15-minute intervals.
The 7.3km, 11-station light rail line connects with Taipei MRT’s Tamsui–Xinyi (Red Line) at Hongshulin Station, the NTMC said, adding that every light rail train has five cars with a maximum capacity of carrying 265 passengers.
When NTMC begins to charge passengers for riding the light rail, the basic fare is NT$20, and the maximum fare for a one-way trip is NT$25, according the agency. Passengers using an electronic ticket will enjoy a 20% fare discount.
The NT$1,280 Taipei and New Taipei joint 30-day unlimited ridership cards will also be accepted to ride the light rail, the agency added.
