在浪漫的環境中享受台北101新年的煙火

The GEO reminds the public that they can opt for another great place to watch the fireworks: Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain)

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – It’s that time of year when many people living in the greater Taipei area mull whether to make the trip to the square in front of the Taipei City Hall or the areas surrounding Taipei 101 to watch the capital's New Year firework displays. Taipei’s Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) reminds the public in a recent news release that they can opt for another great place to watch the fireworks: Xiangshan (Elephant Mountain).

The GEO said that in recent years the Xiangshan Trail has become the first choice for New Year revelers to watch the magnificent fireworks and light shows and for photographers to capture their images. The agency said that this year it had made the environment along the trail friendlier, including making direction signs more helpful and receptive.

There are six spots along the trail that are great for watching the fireworks: the Photographer's Platform (攝手平台), the Six Boulders (六巨石), the Camera Platform (攝影平台), the Firework Platform (煙火平台), the Yongchungang Platform (永春崗平台), and the Chaoran Pavilion (超然亭).

GEO Industrial and Trail Section Chief Chen Yen-cheng (陳彥成) said the easiest way to get to Xiangshan Trail is to take the Tamsui–Xinyi (Red Line), alight at Xiangshan Station, leave at Exit No. 2, and follow the direction signs to the trailhead, or scan the QR code on the signpost for navigation to the trailhead. There is a YouBike station at Exit No. 3, he added.

The GEO said that Xiangshan Trail pamphlets, as well as maps of Taipei’s hiking trails, are available upon request at its office. The latter can also be downloaded via the agency’s recreational website.

The agency also suggests that the public come to Xiangshan by public transportation, such as the MRT, bus, or YouBike.
