Direct flights resume between Taiwan and Brunei

台灣和汶萊之間的直飛航班重新開始

There will be three round-trip flights on a weekly basis

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Royal Brunei Airlines resumed its direct flights between Taiwan and Brunei on Monday after more than 10 years' hiatus, with three round-trip flights taking off on a weekly basis.

Huang Ai-ling (黃愛玲), a sales executive of the airline company, said Brunei is a wonderful destination for travelers all year round with a spectacular natural landscape and rich cultural scene, reported Central News Agency.

Huang also introduced some of the must-see destinations in Brunei, including the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, whose circular domes are covered with 24K gold, and the Kampong Ayer, the largest settlement on a body of water in the world, located on the Brunei River, among several others.

Royal Brunei Airlines first launched direct flights bound for Taiwan in 1986. However, the services were suspended due to the outbreak of the pandemic Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) on the island in 2003. Charted flights have been made available during the Lunar New Year holidays in recent years when the demand for non-stop flight services is high, according to the airline company.

The flight will be offered by the airlines’ next-generation single-aisle aircraft, the A320NEO, which provides personal inflight entertainment with more than a thousand movies for passengers to choose from, said the airline.
