EVA Air to commence flights between Taoyuan and Nagoya, Aomori, Matsuyama airports in 2019

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – EVA Air’s flights to Japan will increase by 19 percent in 2019 through the introduction of three new routes and the expansion of current services, reported CNA.

EVA Air will open new flight routes between Taoyuan International Airport and Japan's Nagoya, Aomori, and Matsuyama airports in 2019, and will also expand a host of existing services.

The first flight between Taoyuan and Nagoya will take place on June 6, 2019, with the route to become a daily-round trip service.

The Taoyuan-Nagoya route will use EVA Air’s new fleet of Boering 787-9 Dreamliners, of which the airline took first delivery of last month.

In a bid to encourage customers to book this flight ahead of time, EVA Air has introduced an early bird discount.

During some time in Q3 2019, EVA Air will also launch flights between Taoyuan and Aomori, as well as flights between Taoyuan and Matsuyama.

EVA Air’s service to both Okinawa and Sendai will also be expanded.

Flights between Taoyuan and Okinawa will increase to two round trips per day, and flights between Taoyuan and Sendai will become a daily affair.

EVA Air President Clay Sun (孫嘉明) said that the airline’s delivery of 29 Boeing 787-10 airplanes, as well as the leasing of six other Boeing aircraft will add flexibility to the airline’s service to both Japan and the world on a broader basis.

The airline is expected to take full delivery of the 35 ordered airplanes by the end of 2022.

This fleet change will also allow the airline to offer more seats on flights between Taoyuan and Tokyo’s Narita Airport, as well as between Taoyuan and Osaka.

In summary, the addition of new services and the expansion of existing ones will increase EVA Air’s round-trips between Taiwan and Japan from 122 to 143 per week, representing an increase of 19 percent.
