Taiwan Stock Exchange closed from Jan. 31 to Feb. 10, 2019
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – The Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) will close for 11 days from Jan. 31 to Feb. 10, 2019, as Taiwan celebrates the extended Lunar New Year holiday.
The TWSE closure syncs with the extended public holiday for Lunar New Year, which runs from Feb. 2 to Feb. 10, 2019.
The last day for trading Taiwanese stocks before the holiday will be Jan. 30, 2019. Transactions posted on Thursday Jan. 31 and Friday Feb. 1 will not be processed until Feb. 10.
The TWSE stressed that financial institutions may work on some days when the exchange is closed, but stock clearance will not take place.
The TWSE went on to suggest that this year’s total trading days are roughly equal to the average.
Taiwanese workers will enjoy 6 long weekends in 2019, according to the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration.
