Man driving scooter in Pingtung?City shot 3 times in apparent road rage incident
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) -- A man driving a scooter in Pingtung City was shot by another man on a scooter three times at noon yesterday (Nov. 15), in an apparent act of road rage, reported UDN.
The victim, a 21-year-old male surnamed Li (李), was shot three times while riding his scooter on Zhonghua Road near the intersection of Guangdong Road at 12:20 p.m. According to eyewitnesses, Li and another man on a scooter had just stopped their scooters in front of a salon shop and engaged in a heated argument for about one minute before the witnesses heard three loud bangs, which some interpreted as fireworks.
After being hit, Li quickly fell to the ground and began writhing in pain. Li, who received gunshot wounds to his left and right thighs, as well his right calf, starting crying for help and saying he was going to die, according to the witnesses.
Li was soon rushed to the hospital, and though he suffered damage to the nerves and blood vessels in his legs, his injuries are not in fact considered life-threatening.
Before the assailant escaped, Li managed to take photos of him with his mobile phone, reported CNA. Police say that the assailant was 50-years-old and they are viewing CCTV footage to confirm his identity and locate his whereabouts.
