Temperatures to rise in Taiwan as northeast monsoon weakens

東北季風減弱,台灣氣溫上升

Temperatures will gradually rise in Taiwan before Tuesday, Central Weather Bureau forecaster Chu Mei-lin (朱美霖) said on Sunday.

TAIPEI (Taiwan News)—Temperatures will gradually rise in Taiwan before Tuesday, Central Weather Bureau forecaster Chu Mei-lin (朱美霖) said on Sunday.
Chu said the lowest temperatures caused by the recent northeast monsoon spell were over as northern Taiwan registered low temperatures of 17 to 18 degrees Celsius overnight. The high temperatures will begin to bounce back to the range of 23 to 24 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan and 28 to 30 degrees in central and southern Taiwan on Sunday, Chus said, adding that the temperature fluctuations between day and night in the western half of Taiwan could be well over 10 degrees.

She said the whole island is expected to see a gradual temperature rise and stable weather before and on Tuesday. However, the northeast monsoon is forecast to affect Taiwan again starting Wednesday and the temperature will drop slightly by only 1 and 2 degrees, Chu said. The intensity of the monsoon is anticipated to intensify and the mercury to drop further by Saturday, according to Chu.

She added that even though temperatures will bounce back on Monday, the moisture from the south will continue to affect the weather, and eastern Taiwan will continue to see overcast skies and occasional showers until Tuesday, when the weather in the area is expected to be sunny.
