Taiwan memory module makers post strong revenue growth
台灣記憶體模組廠商營收強勁成長
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s memory module makers have reported strong revenue growth so far this year as rising AI demand has tightened memory supplies and pushed up prices, CTEE reported Wednesday.
For September, Adata Technology Co., Innodisk Corp., Transcend Information Inc., and Apacer Technology Inc. all posted substantial year-on-year revenue gains, ranging from 157.71% to 535.71%. For the third quarter, year-on-year growth ranged from 166.14% to 579.93%.
Adata reported consolidated revenue of NT$15.7 billion (US$492.4 million) for September, up 199.95% from the same month a year earlier. Its third-quarter revenue exceeded NT$50 billion for the first time, reaching NT$53 billion to set a new quarterly record, according to Anue.
Innodisk reported September revenue of NT$8.7 billion, up 535.71% year-on-year. Third-quarter revenue reached NT$25.9 billion, up 579.93% from a year earlier.
Transcend reported September revenue of NT$6 billion, up 290.42% from a year earlier. Its third-quarter revenue totaled NT$16.1 billion, representing a 291.08% year-on-year increase.
Apacer posted September revenue of NT$3 billion, up 157.71% year-on-year. Third-quarter revenue totaled NT$8.6 billion, an increase of 166.14%.
Memory module makers operate downstream in the memory supply chain. They purchase memory chips from manufacturers and assemble them into finished products such as DRAM modules, solid-state drives, and memory cards, which are sold under their own brands or through original equipment manufacturing arrangements.
Inventory management is important to module makers. They can benefit from inventory gains when memory prices rise, but may face write-downs when prices fall, according to Sinotrade.
Adata said the rapid expansion of AI applications has increased memory demand from AI servers and data centers, tightening supplies of DRAM and NAND flash chips for traditional computers and smartphones. Higher chip prices and tight supply supported higher product prices and sales in the third quarter.
Innodisk attributed the growth to higher shipment volumes and selling prices. The company plans to begin construction of its third factory in Yilan by the end of this year, with production scheduled to start in 2028.
