台灣陳念琴晉級亞運拳擊決賽

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwanese boxer Chen Nien-chin (陳念琴) edged North Korea’s Hwang Hyo-sun 3-2 on Tuesday to reach the women’s 65-kilogram final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games in Japan, guaranteeing Taiwan at least a silver medal.

Chen, known as Taiwan’s “boxing queen,” took control in the opening round with a series of combinations and solid defense, earning unanimous scores from all five judges, per PTS News.

Hwang rallied in the second round, earning the favor of four judges to take it 4-1, before the two boxers traded punches in a closely contested final round.

Chen ultimately prevailed by a 3-2 decision after the judges tallied their scores. The result ensures that she will reach the Asian Games podium for the second consecutive edition.

Chen and Hwang previously met in the gold medal bout at the Asian Boxing Championships in April, when Chen won 4-1 to claim the title. The victory marked her second Asian Championships gold medal, following her first title in 2022.

Chen will face India’s Parveen Hooda in the women’s 65-kilogram gold medal bout on Friday, PTS News reported.
