Taiwan, Thailand deepen AI smart agriculture cooperation

台灣與泰國深化AI智慧農業合作

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The agriculture ministry sent a delegation to Thailand last week to exchange views on AI-powered smart agriculture.

From Monday to Saturday, Lee Hung-his (李紅曦), director-general of the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, led a six-member delegation of experts from government, industry, academia, and research institutions to Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and Chiang Mai, according to the agriculture ministry.

In Bangkok, the delegation exchanged views with Thailand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and academic and research institutions on AI agricultural policies and technological applications. It also discussed low-carbon agriculture, public-private partnerships, and industrial transformation with the Thailand Development Research Institute and SCG Group’s Saraburi Sandbox team.

In Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai, the delegation visited young farmers and community agricultural organizations engaged in smart agriculture, the agriculture ministry said. It also toured smart farms specializing in organic tea and environmentally friendly banana cultivation at Singha Park.

The delegation visited Maejo University in Chiang Mai to discuss agricultural engineering, technology adaptation, and talent development.

The visits provided an opportunity to learn about Thailand’s needs for smart-farming technologies, equipment, materials, and operational support, the agriculture ministry said.

The ministry said it would use existing Taiwan-Thailand agricultural cooperation programs to promote joint research, talent exchanges, field testing, and business partnerships.
