Taiwan set for favorable Mid-Autumn Festival weather

台灣中秋連假天氣預報良好

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Most of Taiwan, including its outlying islands, is expected to see mostly cloudy to sunny weather during the four-day Mid-Autumn Festival and Teachers' Day holiday.

Central Weather Administration forecaster Cheng Chieh-jen (鄭傑仁) said most areas, including Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, will have favorable weather for outdoor activities and moon-gazing during the break. Afternoon showers are possible in mountainous areas, while some northern and eastern areas could see isolated showers, per CNA.

Temperatures are expected to remain warm, with highs of 31 to 34 C in western Taiwan and 28 to 32 C in the east.

At the start of next week, a typhoon east of Taiwan could bring some rain. Typhoon Surigae, located about 1,620 km east-southeast of Eluanbi at 2 a.m., is gradually turning northward, reducing the likelihood of a direct impact on Taiwan.

From Monday into Tuesday, northerly winds are expected to strengthen. Northern areas, including Taoyuan and Yilan, could see brief isolated showers, while other areas will remain mostly cloudy to sunny with isolated afternoon showers in mountainous areas.
