Taoyuan Airport expects 930,000 travelers during holiday period
桃園機場預估連假期間旅客量達93萬人次
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport expects 930,000 travelers to pass through during a six-day period including the long weekend holiday.
The total predicted for Sept. 24-29 averages 155,000 passengers per day, UDN reported. The actual holiday lasts four days, from the Mid-Autumn Festival Friday to Teachers’ Day Monday.
Peak travel days are expected to be Thursday and Friday with at least 160,000 travelers each. Passengers are advised to arrive three hours early and use smart digital systems as much as possible, Taiwan International Airport Corporation said.
The Aviation Police Bureau counseled travelers not to check in lighters, vapes, power banks, and other potentially dangerous objects. Carry-on luggage should not include more than 100 milliliters of liquids or more than two power banks. On average, checks uncovered 18,000 banned items per month.
Police are calling up 26 staffers doing their alternative military service and 160 additional officers to assist with security checks and to help improve passenger flow during the holiday period, per UDN.
