Taiwan’s 7A Drones signs US market agreement
台灣「7A無人機」簽署美國市場合作協議
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s 7A Drones and the North American Taiwan Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Association signed an agreement Friday to market Taiwan-made drones in the US.
The company and association signed the memorandum of understanding at the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi, with County Magistrate Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁) witnessing the ceremony, per CNA.
Association members then received a briefing on Taiwan’s drone industry and practiced operating drones at the center.
Association President Arthur Chen (陳世修) said Taiwan’s drone industry is at a turning point amid geopolitical changes and growing demand for supply chains that exclude China. He said the association aims to use networks of Taiwanese businesses across the US to promote Taiwan-made drones.
Chen said US government agencies are seeking non-China supply chains and gradually replacing drone systems and components supplied by Chinese companies. The shift presents an opportunity for Taiwan’s drone industry to enter the US market, he added.
Weng said Taiwan has strong capabilities in small and medium-sized drones, while the US specializes in large drones. He said drones could become a key Taiwanese industry as countries work to establish supply chains that exclude China.
7A Drones CEO Dwayne Hsu (許新勝) said drones are aerial platforms integrating AI computing, encrypted communications, sensors, and precision controls. He added that Taiwanese companies are highly flexible and able to customize products for US clients.
The association said the US is seeking to reindustrialize and rebuild domestic production capacity for defense and commercial drones. The partnership will connect Taiwanese technology with US industry to address gaps in local supply chains and improve systems integration, it added.
