TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Jobs linked to TSMC’s expansion in southern Taiwan drew applicants from the north to a Kaohsiung recruitment fair on Saturday, with many seeking to relocate.
TSMC was joined by 17 suppliers at the Nanzi District event. Job seekers said TSMC’s attractive pay and benefits had drawn them to the fair, where they also learned about salaries and benefits offered by its suppliers, according to FTV News.
Security and cleaning jobs were among more than 1,000 planned vacancies, alongside positions for technicians, assistant engineers, and engineers, per UDN. Participating firms included Applied Materials, Lam Research, and ASML.
The fair took place in the gymnasium of Guoguang High School, affiliated with National Sun Yat-sen University. The queue extended outside, with some applicants arriving before the 10 a.m. opening, per FTV News. One applicant was still waiting for a TSMC interview at 1 p.m., having arrived after 9 a.m., according to the report.
For TSMC’s broader recruitment drive, the company welcomed applications from experienced workers and new graduates, including people with disabilities. Opportunities were available in fields such as human resources, accounting, business management, computing, science, and engineering. TSMC also said it was seeking more women for equipment engineering roles.
The company expects to recruit about 8,000 employees for positions across Taiwan in 2026.
