American Institute in Taiwan hosts inaugural education fair

美國在台協會舉辦首屆教育展

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The American Institute in Taiwan and EducationUSA Taiwan hosted their first education fair Saturday in Taipei.

The event was part of a week of Freedom250 activities that also included the Workforce First Summit and a Semicon networking reception, according to an AIT press release.

Focused on artificial intelligence and science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the fair featured 30 representatives from 27 US higher education institutions. More than 500 Taiwanese students, parents, and teachers attended.

“The United States remains the number one study destination for Taiwanese students,” AIT Public Diplomacy Section Chief Matthew Cenzer said in his opening remarks. “These schools’ presence at this fair continues to position the United States as a top education destination.”

A delegation from the American Association of State Colleges and Universities also attended to strengthen ties between US state institutions and Taiwan’s education and industry sectors, per AIT.

Attendees learned about admissions, scholarships, and academic programs directly from representatives of participating institutions. Four speaker sessions covered scholarships and student visa policies, while EducationUSA provided information about applying to US programs.

AIT said Taiwan remains the world’s largest per capita source of international students to the US.
