Taoyuan Airport Terminal 3 set for 2027 completion
桃園機場第三航廈預計2027年完工
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taoyuan International Airport Corporation confirmed on Wednesday that the Terminal 3 project will be completed by the end of 2027.
Corporation President Fan Hsiao-lun (范孝倫) said the project is a major national infrastructure undertaking, complex in scope. However, once finished, it will enhance the airport’s overall operational capacity, according to a company press release.
Fan said the company has continued to hire prosecutors, anti-corruption officials, investigators, and occupational safety units to strengthen external oversight and project transparency. Inviting outside groups to inspect the construction site allows the public to understand how transparency and efficiency are balanced while completing major projects, he said.
Fan added that cross-agency collaboration ensures construction efficiency and clean governance.
The terminal will be able to handle 45 million passengers a year. The airport said self-check-in counters will account for nearly half of check-in services at the new terminal. Staffed check-in counters will also be 60% to 70% longer than those at terminals 1 and 2, allowing passengers to check in baggage earlier and more smoothly.
The terminal will have 18 large elevators to help passengers move through the building. It will also include five gates for smaller aircraft.
Transportation Minister Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) urged construction crews to speed up work after visiting the terminal in June. He also requested Taoyuan International Airport Corporation to implement measures to boost efficiency.
The north boarding concourse of Terminal 3, designed by British-Italian architect Richard Rogers, opened for trial operations in December.
