Taiwan power semiconductor makers see growth as AI pushes up power requirements

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s power semiconductor makers are seeing stronger demand as the rapid growth of AI computing drives data centers to adopt higher-capacity power systems.
Panjit International Inc. reported consolidated revenue of NT$1.45 billion (US$44.9 million) in July, up 30.98% from the same period a year earlier. Revenue for the first seven months reached NT$8.8 billion, an annual increase of 16.46%, according to CTEE.
Eris Technology Corp. posted July revenue of NT$291 million, up 29.78% year-on-year and marking a new monthly record. Revenue for the first seven months totaled NT$1.78 billion, an annual increase of 19.02%.
The stronger performance comes as AI data centers adopt new power architectures to support increasingly powerful servers. Nvidia is developing an 800-volt power architecture for its next-generation AI server systems, while Microsoft is also working to redesign power systems from the electricity grid to individual server racks.
Industry sources said higher-voltage systems can reduce energy losses during power conversion, but they also require components that can withstand higher voltages, switch electricity more efficiently and operate reliably under greater heat loads. This shift is expected to benefit suppliers of power semiconductors, which are used to control and convert electricity within power systems.
AI servers can also experience significant changes in power consumption, making protection against sudden voltage increases particularly important. The trend could increase both the number and cost of power components used in each system, while raising technical requirements for suppliers.
Panjit has expanded beyond diode production into a broader range of power semiconductors. Its product lineup includes 650-volt and 1,200-volt silicon carbide diodes for server power supplies and industrial power systems.
Eris is gradually expanding its product portfolio to include power transistors, electrostatic discharge protection devices and silicon carbide products. Together with subsidiary Yea Shin Technology Co., which provides access to wafer manufacturing, Eris covers wafer production, packaging, testing and sales.
