Taiwan foreign ministry hosts drone workshop with Czech Republic

台灣外交部與捷克舉辦無人機工作坊

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and the Czech Republic held a joint drone workshop focused on lessons from the war in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.

The Aug. 3-7 event took place at the Asia UAV AI Innovation Application R&D Center in Chiayi County. The ministry said in a statement that it invited 22 experts to exchange views and demonstrate practical examples of drone use.

The ministry’s Drone Diplomacy Task Force, the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, the Institute of National Defense and Security Research, and the Czech Republic’s Farpoint Academy were represented at the event. The workshop resulted from discussions between Drone Diplomacy Task Force Executive Director Chiang Zhen-wei (江振瑋) and former Czech Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marketa Pekarova Adamova.

On Sunday, Chiang and Adamova signed a memorandum of understanding paving the way for cooperation on talent training, supply chains, and the organization of international events. Taiwan’s expertise in semiconductors and drones, as well as its emphasis on non-Chinese supply chains, demonstrates the country’s importance and will help its cooperation with countries sharing similar values, Chiang said.
