TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Raymond Greene, director of the American Institute in Taiwan, praised Taichung’s role in facilitating cooperation during talks with Mayor Lu Shiow-yen (盧秀燕) on Thursday.
The two held discussions on economic and trade cooperation, industrial development, cultural exchanges, and city governance, according to the Taichung City Government.
Greene said Taiwan and the US are deepening exchanges and cooperation in industries including artificial intelligence, automation, and drones, and that Taichung is an important hub for these sectors. He said he hoped cooperation across a range of fields could be strengthened.
Greene also said this year marks the 250th anniversary of the founding of the US, and AIT plans to roll out commemorative activities including exhibitions, forums, and reading groups aimed at promoting cultural exchange.
Lu said Taichung has implemented major development projects, including the opening of an international convention and exhibition center and the growth of industrial clusters in smart manufacturing and precision machinery. Taichung welcomes closer cooperation with the US in areas including industrial investment, technological innovation, and talent exchanges, she said.
