Taoyuan Airport marks 1st arrivals at new North Concourse

桃園機場第三航廈北登機廊廳迎來首批旅客。

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport’s Terminal 3 North Concourse received three inbound flights for the first time since trial operations began on Dec. 1.

Minister of Transportation and Communications Chen Shih-kai (陳世凱) and Taoyuan Airport Chair Yang Wei-fu (楊偉甫) were on site to hand out snacks and celebrate the milestone with arriving passengers and crew members, per CNA. The first flight was on a Starlux Airlines plane from Clark International Airport in the Philippines.

Chen said the entire arrival process went smoothly and that travelers are welcome to provide more feedback for adjustments and improvements. He hoped the facility could be officially opened by the end of the month.

Taoyuan International Airport Corp. said that as of Sunday, a total of 122 flights and more than 26,000 passengers have used the North Concourse for departures.

The North Concourse adds eight more gates for international air travel and expands the airport’s annual service capacity by about 5.8 million passengers. Once the other concourses are completed, Terminal 3 will be able to accommodate an additional 45 million passengers each year.
