Taiwan’s Starlux wins 2 gold awards for sustainability

台灣星宇航空(Starlux)榮獲兩項永續發展金獎

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Starlux Airlines said Monday it won two gold awards for sustainability this month, earning recognition for its ESG governance.

The airline received a gold award at the Second ESG Transportation Sustainability Awards Friday, per CNA. It also recently won a gold award at the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards.

Starlux explained that its initiatives extend from the ground to the air, including electrifying ground vehicles. The carrier also uses sustainable aviation fuel for its Airbus aircraft.

Starlux has also pushed for digital transformation. It recently launched its JX Reader cloud-based platform, allowing passengers to access in-flight reading materials digitally and reducing paper use. It is available on Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

Looking ahead, the airline said it will expand sustainability initiatives as it works toward becoming a more ESG-focused enterprise.

Starlux was founded in 2018 as a full service carrier and started operations in early 2020. It was given a five-star rating from Skytrax in June.
