Taipei's Ochre Grill & Bar relaunches with all-day menu

台北瑪黑餐酒(Ochre Grill & Bar)重新開業,推出全日菜單

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Ochre Grill & Bar, part of the Marais hospitality group in Taipei, has shifted from a night-focused venue to an all-day dining concept with the launch of its “Continental Daylight” theme.

Ochre says the new model is meant to let flavors carry through the day, with a brighter, lighter take on European dishes.

The updated format extends the dinner menu and adds a daytime offering built around lighter European flavors and a more relaxed pace. The restaurant aims to serve both travelers and locals looking for casual all-day dining.

The new lunch menu features six main courses and a dessert centered on “light, aroma, and airiness.” Dishes include roasted broccoli, an appetizer with peanut, mild spice and a focus on pure aroma, and truffled scrambled eggs combining soft, buttery eggs with black truffle and wild mushrooms.

Seafood options include charcoal-grilled octopus, described as smoky and tender with a coastal flavor profile. Braised mussels and clams are prepared in a European family-style approach, simmered with cured meat fat and spices.

For the main course centerpiece, braised beef cheek is slow-cooked for six hours until tender, keeping the feel of a classic bistro dish.

The menu also features tiger prawn and scallops XO noodles made with homemade XO sauce, tiger prawns and scallops. Dessert is a lemon tart layered with lemon custard and Italian meringue, aiming for a balance of sweet and sour.

A key highlight is a collaboration with Celebread, a Taipei sourdough bakery. Ochre describes bread as a core element in its “continental daylight” concept.

The partnership has produced four new sourdough sandwiches, available all day. They include a classic French ham sandwich with French ham and fresh cream; a Vietnamese rendang pork sandwich with rendang, chicken liver mousse and pickled radishes; a Mediterranean-style spiced pan-seared chicken leg sandwich with sun-dried tomatoes and feta cheese; and an American smoked brisket sandwich with low-temperature smoked beef, Emmentaler cheese and Russian dressing.

Ochre said it hopes the all-day operation, lighter daytime menu and sourdough sandwiches will help position the restaurant within Taipei’s daytime dining scene.
