Blessings meet pineapple cakes at Taiwan's Pineapple Hill
祝福與鳳梨酥的相遇,就在台灣旺萊山。
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan’s Pineapple Hill has partnered with Tainan’s historic Anping Matsu Temple for a limited-edition collaboration blending the country’s iconic pineapple cakes with local faith.
Available through Dec. 31, the collection features cat-shaped gift boxes, charm bags and reusable tote bags adorned with a playful illustration of Matsu. The gift sets include a cat-shaped pineapple cake box, a peace charm bag blessed at the temple and a Matsu blessing card.
Anping Matsu Temple, also known as Kaitai Tianhou Temple, is one of Taiwan’s oldest Matsu temples. Originally a sea goddess protecting sailors, Matsu — one of Taiwan’s most widely worshiped deities — has come to symbolize maternal care and everyday protection, according to the National Religion Information Network.
“Through this collaboration, we pay tribute to Taiwan’s local faith and agriculture,” said Pineapple Hill CEO Liu Yu-jui (劉又睿).
The partnership also emphasizes sustainability, with packaging and charm bag drawstrings made from fiber extracted from pineapple leaves.
Visitors to Pineapple Hill stores can enjoy a complimentary warm pineapple cake. The pastries are made with a blend of two types of pineapples, showcasing Chiayi’s rich harvest.
