Nvidia R&D center opens in Taipei's Nangang District

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Capping off Jensen Huang’s (黃仁勳) visit to Taiwan this weekend, Nvidia opened the doors at its newest R&D center in Taipei’s Nangang District.
The company's name was illuminated atop the Ruantex Yucheng building near Kunyang MRT Station on Saturday evening. The company signed a 10-year lease for office space from the third to the 17th floors, and will occupy 67% of the building, UDN reported.
Before the announcement that the company would build its headquarters in the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park, Nangang was among the choices under consideration. The company’s main Taiwan office is located in Taipei’s Neihu Technology Park.
Huang arrived on Friday to tour TSMC facilities in Tainan, and to attend the company's sports day in Hsinchu. There was speculation that he might meet with Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) to discuss Nvidia’s future Taiwan headquarters, but Huang was unable to fit the meeting into his brief 22-hour visit.
