Taiwan explores physical AI at US forum

台灣在美台高科技論壇上探討實體化人工智慧

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The US-Taiwan High-Tech Forum at the US Computer History Museum focused on physical artificial intelligence, as experts from major tech companies discussed its growing impact on daily life.

CNA reported Sunday the event was co-hosted by Taiwan’s science and technology council and the North America Taiwanese Engineering and Science Association. Forum organizer Justin Chiang (姜可鈞) said this year’s topic reflects trends in physical AI and Taiwan’s industrial development.

The forum explored how AI is extending beyond digital interfaces into physical environments through machines that can sense, reason, and act. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang (黃仁勳) has called physical AI the “next wave of innovation.”

Chi Chiu, co-founder of CosmicBrain AI, said physical AI remains in its early stages and is not limited to robotics. It also involves hardware, software, and invisible systems that enable machines to operate efficiently.

NATEA-SV President Johnny Lin (林祐立) said the goal is to use technology to connect the US and Taiwan and solve real-world problems. He added that people should consider not only what AI can do but also what it should do to benefit humanity.

Taiwan is advancing its “New Ten Major AI Construction Projects” initiative, which includes four key emerging technologies. Smart robots play a central role in these initiatives, highlighting the country’s strengths in chips and hardware that drive the development of physical AI.
