Korea’s Lotte stores begin accepting Taiwan’s Line Pay
韓國樂天商店開始接受台灣的Line Pay支付方式。
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — South Korea’s Lotte Department Store chain announced this weekend it will begin accepting Line Pay for purchases.
Lotte aims to make shopping more convenient for Taiwanese tourists in Korea. Line Pay Taiwan will be accepted at all Lotte locations starting Nov. 6, Chosun Daily reported.
The Lotte Jamsil branch reportedly began accepting Line Pay on Oct. 28 to test transactions. On Friday, a press event was held at Lotte Tower in Seoul to announce the partnership.
Bilateral tourism between South Korea and Taiwan has been steadily increasing. In the first half of 2025, Taiwanese tourists were the third-largest group of visitors to South Korea, up 26% from the same period in 2024, per Chosun Daily.
Line Pay is Taiwan’s most popular digital payment system, with an estimated 13.1 million users. Visitors to Korea will now be able to make purchases at Lotte locations without exchanging currency for cash transactions.
Lotte also announced a benefits program for Line Pay users: anyone who spends over NT$4,300 (US$140) using the Line Pay app before Jan. 31, 2026, will receive a gift certificate worth 10% of the purchase amount.
