Japan Airlines subsidiary launches Naha–Taoyuan flight

日本航空子公司開通沖繩至桃園航線

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Japan Transocean Air, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, announced a daily Naha–Taoyuan route beginning Feb. 3.

JTA said the route will stimulate tourism and economic exchanges and serve as a new bridge connecting Okinawa and Taipei, JTA said in a press release. Ticket sales open at 10 a.m. on Dec. 3.

The airline plans to use Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the route, offering both economy and premium economy seating.

JTA said the direct flight, integrated with Japan Airlines Group’s domestic and international network, will strengthen Naha’s role as a tourist gateway and boost travel to surrounding islands and other parts of Japan. It added the service will help revitalize the local economy.

Taiwanese carriers have also added Japan routes in recent months. China Airlines announced Taoyuan–Ishigaki flights in May, while Tigerair Taiwan launched direct Taoyuan–Ishigaki flights in July. Tigerair Taiwan will begin direct flights from Tainan to Kumamoto and Okinawa in December.
