Blackpink shows bring 120,000 fans, NT$300 million in revenue to Kaohsiung
韓國女子天團(BLACKPINK)演唱會為高雄帶來 12 萬粉絲,收入達新台幣 3 億元
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — South Korean girl group Blackpink returned to Kaohsiung for concerts on Saturday and Sunday, drawing more than 120,000 fans over two days and generating over NT$300 million (US$9.8 million) in tourism revenue across the city, according to the Kaohsiung City Government.
It was the group’s first performance in Kaohsiung in more than two years, per CNA. The Kaohsiung MRT reported 323,601 riders on Saturday, the highest daily total so far this year, and 281,511 riders on Sunday.
The city’s Economic Development Bureau said the influx of fans boosted business at major night markets, including Liuhe, Ruifeng, and Jilin, where long queues formed and vendors saw sales rise by at least 30%. The bureau added that the “Pink Wave” stimulated spending across shops, entertainment venues, and hotels citywide.
Liuhe Night Market Secretary-General Chin-han (詹金翰) told CNA that vendors still remember the benefits from Blackpink’s previous concert two years ago. This weekend’s shows again brought large crowds, with fans holding pink light sticks while lining up at food stalls.
Jilin Night Market Chair Chen Hao-yang (陳浩陽) said many fans dressed in pink stopped by for late-night snacks after the concert. Popular items like bubble tea, oyster omelets, steamed dumplings, and shaved ice attracted long queues.
The bureau reminded fans that night market and shopping district vouchers are valid until Feb. 28 next year. It added that upcoming concerts, including those by Aaron Kwok, Wu Bai, and Twice, will feature related promotions and activities.
