TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Three master’s students from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology have developed an AI-powered platform called “Boring AI” that helps businesses find potential clients and partners.

The platform was created by Taiwan’s Shih Chun-i (施鈞譯) and two Indonesian students, Ikhwan Iqbal and Aldi Permana. Shih said the platform automates the search process and filters contact lists, helping businesses find suitable partners while significantly saving time, per CNA.

The project won first prize at the university’s alumni association-led startup competition, which featured 28 teams this year after more than 31 training sessions. Shih’s team received an award of NT$1 million (US$31,000).

The alumni association also awarded NT$250,000 to each of the 10 teams that advanced to the semifinals, highlighting its support for student innovation.

University President Yen Jia-yush (顏家鈺) presented the award to Shih on Monday. Yen encouraged students to develop their ideas into real projects and said the university will continue providing resources and securing corporate sponsorship to support student projects.

Earlier this month, three university professors from the Graduate Institute of Digital Learning and Education and the Computer Science and Information Engineering Department also led a team to develop an AI-powered system to help students improve their speaking skills. The tool, which uses speech recognition and language processing technologies, received an award from the National Science and Technology Council.

Chen Kuan-yu (陳冠宇), one of the professors involved in developing the system, said the tool automatically analyzes oral presentations and provides suggestions on content, speaking speed, and tone. Users record and upload their speech, and the system generates feedback within seconds.
