台塑企業在台北紡織展上呈現創新成果

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Formosa Plastics Group is showcasing its eco-friendly and functional apparel and textile materials at the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show through Thursday.

The three-day event at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, themed "Sustainability, Functional Applications, and Intelligent Manufacturing," features nearly 400 global exhibitors showcasing innovative, eco-friendly, and high-performance textiles.

The group said that its subsidiaries, including Nan Ya Plastics Corp., Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp., and Formosa Taffeta Co., are showcasing products such as activewear, down apparel, outdoor gear, workwear, protective clothing, and textile materials at the event, per CNA.

Nan Ya Plastics Corp. is showcasing ultra-fine fibers, quick-drying fibers, anti-sweat stain, and anti-see-through fiber products in collaboration with Kuraray, a Japanese chemical and fiber manufacturer. The company said that it holds nearly a 50% share in Japan’s high-performance polyester fiber market. Through its partnership with Kuraray, it aims to expand its reach in the global textile market.

Nan Ya Plastics said that it has been developing eco-friendly and recycled fabrics, further strengthening its ongoing collaboration with Kuraray in sustainable development and recycled polyester technologies.

Also on display is a recycling technology from Formosa Chemicals & Fibre Corp. that turns discarded ocean fishing nets into fabric. The nets are broken down through a chemical process and turned into raw materials to make eco-friendly nylon. This nylon is then made into yarn, which Formosa Taffeta Co. uses to produce clothing.

Formosa Taffeta Co. is also presenting its breathable and waterproof fabric, which combines nanofiber technology with nylon. Both the outer fabric and the waterproof layer are made from the same material, simplifying the recycling process and promoting circular economy practices.

Formosa Plastics Group President Wu Chia-chao (吳嘉昭) added that the group is transforming in response to US tariffs and growing competition from China, focusing on product innovation, carbon reduction, green energy adoption, and AI technology integration.
