Taiwan’s Thunder Tiger drone added to US Blue UAS Cleared List

臺灣「雷虎科技(Thunder Tiger)」無人機被列入美國藍色無人機系統認證清單

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The US Department of Defense has added Thunder Tiger's first-person view drone, Overkill, to its Blue UAS Cleared List, marking the first time a Taiwanese drone manufacturer has received this cybersecurity and military-grade certification.

The department's Defense Innovation Unit manages the list. Inclusion indicates that a drone has been vetted for security, supply chain integrity, and operational performance, allowing US military and government agencies to purchase it without additional approvals. The list also includes drones from major US manufacturers Anduril and AeroVironment, as well as the French company Parrot, per CNA.

Thunder Tiger said that Overkill, which is fully manufactured in Taiwan, offers a flight endurance of 30 minutes, a top speed of 120 kph, and a maximum payload capacity of 3 kg. It is also capable of navigating through confined spaces such as rooftops and narrow alleyways.

Designed to meet the demands of modern warfare, they can be equipped with an AI-powered attack system and anti-jamming GPS, enabling reliable performance in high-risk missions such as precision attacks, reconnaissance, and border defense.

The company noted that inclusion on the list also opens up procurement opportunities within the supply chains of NATO member states, with the potential global market estimated at several hundred thousand drones annually. To accelerate its international market expansion, the company will participate in the Association of the US Army's annual meeting and exposition in Washington, scheduled for Oct. 13-15.

The company added that it will compete in the Ministry of National Defense’s upcoming drone procurement project. The ministry plans to procure 48,750 drones between next year and 2027 to strengthen Taiwan’s asymmetric warfare capabilities.
