TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Kuma Academy held an outdoor disaster drill in Taipei on Saturday.
About 120 people gathered near Taipei Expo Park for a series of simulated missions — ranging from equipment checks and physical challenges to rescue and decision-making drills — to experience the realities of a wartime disaster site, per CNA.
Participants were divided into 10 teams and had to make quick decisions with limited information, such as how to allocate scarce resources for emergency treatment or how to balance safety with humanitarian concerns when approached by strangers requesting help.
Actors simulated injuries of varying severity — including fractures, blood loss, and amputations — using fake plasma and shrapnel to recreate battlefield stress. New scenarios were added, including heatstroke and equipment malfunctions.
Kuma Academy said the drills aimed to shorten volunteers’ response times to disasters and train them to find solutions and make decisions when it matters most.
