TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — South Korea’s Aero K Airlines will launch direct flights between Hualien and Incheon International Airport beginning Nov. 13.

There will be two flights per week, on Thursdays and Sundays, according to the Hualien County Government. Flight details are still being finalized, and the exact dates and times will be announced by Aero K Airlines.

The new route will benefit Korean tourists and give Hualien residents a faster and more affordable international travel option. The county government said it will lead a tourism delegation to South Korea in September to host a tourism promotion event in Seoul and discuss business opportunities with local industry representatives.

The county government said it hopes to attract more South Korean visitors to the region.

Hualien County Magistrate Hsu Chen-wei (徐榛蔚) said that South Korea has always been one of Hualien’s key international source markets. The county government will continue establishing more international flight connections and is currently in discussions to have direct flights between Japan and Hualien, she said.
