Taiwan's first major male revue heats up Taipei

台灣首場大型男聲歌舞表演在台北引起轟動

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A new era of live entertainment has arrived in Taiwan with the sold-out debut of “Muscle High: A Male Revue from Taiwan.”

Defying the traditional male revue format often seen abroad, the show has quickly become a local sensation, drawing a diverse audience that includes both men and women — and even delighted attendees as old as 80.

Produced by the team behind the popular talk show “The Night Night Show with Brian Tseng,” “Muscle High” is the island’s first large-scale production of its kind. The inaugural performances from Aug. 8–10 played to packed houses, setting a high bar for its upcoming run at Taipei Music Center from Sept. 5–14.

The 75-minute spectacle features a rotating cast of six dancers, selected from nearly 100 applicants for their physiques and dance skills. The lineup includes fitness coach Taiya, dubbed “mini Eddie Peng (彭于晏),” and dancer Hugo, who previously caught the eye of entertainer Dee Hsu (徐熙娣).

Choreography takes audiences through a range of fantasies, from playful beach scenes to police and CEO scenarios.

A key differentiator for “Muscle High” is its all-inclusive approach. Unlike many international shows aimed exclusively at women, the Taiwanese production welcomes all genders — a policy that has proved successful, with organizers noting the diversity of the crowd, including enthusiastic senior citizens.

Tickets are available via KKTIX, with general admission starting at NT$1,200 (US$40). Two special packages are also offered: a VVIP Queen Package for NT$16,000, which includes backstage access and close interaction, and a VIP Package for NT$6,000.
