Taiwan Fisheries Agency launches microwaved meals
台灣漁業署推出微波餐點
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Fisheries Agency has partnered with PX Mart to launch two new microwavable meals that promote Taiwanese seafood.
Beginning Aug. 1, thick milkfish soup and squid and taro vermicelli soup pre-packaged meals will be available at over 1,200 PX Mart and PX Go stores, CNA reported.
Fisheries Agency Director-General Wang Mao-cheng (王茂城) explained the agency has long worked with PX Mart to promote premium Taiwanese seafood, offering products like Taiwan tilapia, golden threadfin bream, and grouper. Now, the agency aims to transform premium seafood into ready-to-eat dishes by collaborating with retail channels to meet consumer demand and expand food choices.
This initiative also strengthens the link between production sites and markets, promotes local seafood processing, creates job opportunities, and stimulates regional economies, Wang said.
Culinary expert Tsai Ji-fang (蔡季芳) said the milkfish thick soup has a rich broth made from milkfish sourced from Tainan and is paired with handmade fish balls. The squid and taro vermicelli soup uses seasonally caught baby squid from Taiwanese waters and is combined with local taro and vegetables.
