Lawry's Taipei pays multilayered salute to dads
台北勞瑞斯牛肋排餐廳(Lawry's)向爸爸們致以「多層次」的敬意
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As August approaches, Lawry’s The Prime Rib Taipei is marking Taiwan’s Father’s Day with a limited-edition dessert that honors the strength and warmth often associated with fatherhood.
Father’s Day in Taiwan falls on Aug. 8, a date chosen for its phonetic similarity to the word “father” in Chinese and its historical connection. On Aug. 8, 1945, a proposal was made to commemorate paternal contributions near the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War, according to Marie Claire and BenQ.
To celebrate the occasion, Lawry’s has created a cake featuring rich, layered flavors that reflect the depth of fatherly love. The dessert combines Baileys Irish Cream, Kahlua coffee liqueur, Grand Marnier orange liqueur, and 72% Meiji dark chocolate from Japan.
At its core is a bittersweet chocolate base offering a mature, balanced flavor. Infused with Baileys — a blend of fresh cream, Irish whiskey, and vanilla-chocolate notes — the dessert evokes warmth and resilience.
Kahlua, a Mexican coffee liqueur made with roasted coffee beans and a touch of vanilla, adds an aromatic, comforting layer. The addition of blood orange purée and Grand Marnier introduces a refined citrus brightness that balances the richness with elegance.
The dessert is topped with a silky Baileys cream sauce, offering a smooth texture and lingering finish — a thoughtful tribute to paternal devotion.
