Bar Igloo brings cool drinks and colder cups to Taipei
冰屋酒吧(Bar igloo)為台北帶來清涼飲品和更沁涼的杯子
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A glacial-themed bar has opened in Taipei’s Raohe Night Market, offering visitors a frosty escape from the summer heat.
Bar Igloo, which opened in May, is the third concept by Minusone, the brand known for its nature-inspired establishments Bar Root and Caveyard. While the earlier bars are designed to resemble a jungle and a rocky cave, respectively, Bar Igloo draws inspiration from the serene, icy atmosphere of a glacier.
The standout feature of the bar is its signature serving vessels — cups and shot glasses made entirely of ice. Select drinks and snacks are presented in these frozen containers to enhance the immersive experience.
“We wanted to recreate the feeling of being inside an ice cave,” the Minusone team told Taiwan News. “So making the cups out of ice was a natural choice.”
The process, however, was not simple. After numerous failed attempts, the team perfected a freezing method that produces clear, leak-proof, and durable ice cups using specialized equipment.
The bar’s signature offerings include a bubble milk tea cocktail served in a full-sized ice cup and assorted spirits — including vodka, whisky, tequila, and rum — poured into petite ice shot glasses. The menu also features tangy cold noodles served in icy bowls and a popular dessert of marshmallow ice cream.
