'Tiger Street' highlights Taipei’s urban culture
「超熱派對(Tiger Street)」彰顯台北城市文化
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The annual "Tiger Street" event returns this weekend, bringing urban sports competitions such as three-on-three basketball, skateboarding, street dance, and other entertainment to Huashan 1914 Cultural and Creative Park and the adjacent Xinsheng Bridge Skateboard Park.
Billed as the most anticipated street culture festival of the year, the free event features musical performers such as Mr. Skin, DJ QuestionMark, DJ Yu, DJ Roman, along with rap groups Henry and High Loc and Multiverse Music, per ETtoday.
Organizers said an expanded format will bring three-on-three basketball teams from north, central, and south Taiwan to compete in a round-robin tournament. Also, a game featuring basketball players from Taiwan's professional league will take place on Sunday at 4:30 p.m., in a Taipei versus Kaohsiung showdown.
Not to be outdone by basketball, a skateboarding competition will be led by the "Godfather of Skateboarding" Sky Wang (王天麟). Skateboarding events will be held at Xinsheng Bridge, known to local skateboarders for an array of ramps, rails, and boxes.
A street dance competition will also be led by the "Emperor of Hip-Hop" Artshow, who will host the Poplock Park all-style street dance finals competition.
The event is free of charge. Anyone over 18 years of age who completes designated tasks can enjoy a free sample of Tiger Crystal. For more information, visit Tiger Beer’s official Instagram page.
