Asia Agri-Tech Expo kicks off in Tainan
亞太區農業技術展覽會在台南開幕
Event features smart agriculture and farming innovations, expected to draw 25,000 visitors
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The Ministry of Agriculture and Informa Markets, the world's leading international exhibitions organizer, are holding the Asia Agri-Tech Expo Wednesday through Friday at the International Convention and Exhibition Center Tainan.
This year's event showcases agricultural automation, smart livestock farming, precision irrigation, and crop monitoring. Organizers expect to attract more than 25,000 visitors and will host 60 seminars throughout the exhibition.
Among the innovations on display is a smart electric feeding vehicle, developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute and the Livestock Research Institute. It features a dual-motor power system with autonomous navigation and charging functions. It increases feeding frequency from twice to four times daily, boosting milk production in dairy cows by up to 30%, per CNA.
ITRI is also showcasing its farm-cleaning robot. Adaptable to various environments, the robot features smart navigation to avoid livestock and obstacles. As it moves, it vacuums waste and automatically returns to its docking station for recharging.
ITRI also unveiled its cow vocal print recognition system at the expo, which interprets cow emotions and provides an early warning for calving. According to the institute, the system has been tested at several livestock farms in Taiwan, achieving up to 80% accuracy in predicting births and around 70% in emotion recognition.
Two-Shoulder AI Co. is showcasing its innovations at the expo, including an indoor shrimp farming system, developed with the Fisheries Research Institute. The system integrates AI-powered image recognition and sensor technology to monitor shrimp growth and water quality, helping reduce the reliance on antibiotics in aquaculture.
The company's other display is an AI prediction system for sow farrowing, developed with the Livestock Research Institute. This system uses image recognition and data analysis to provide a 12-hour advanced warning of farrowing. The company reports that it has helped improve piglet survival by 20% per litter.
The event also features a zone for livestock feed and health products. Total Nutrition Technologies Co. is displaying its peptide-protein and probiotic-based products. Wonder Vax Co. has a vaccine designed to help poultry combat bronchitis. Vetnostrum Animal Health Co. has a range of health supplements and feed solutions for livestock.
