Upgrades include larger fonts and clearer transfer station indicators
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taipei MRT has improved digital display panels on Taiwan’s first AI-powered trains.
Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation (TRTC) announced Saturday that new enhancements are being introduced on the Red and Blue Line AI trains, following positive rider feedback since their debut on March 27, per CNA. Upgrades include larger station name fonts, redesigned transfer station signage, and new light indicators for branch line information.
Each AI train car features a 48-inch LCD screen above every door, providing real-time updates on arrival times, platform levels, exit locations, and public service announcements.
The latest update enlarges station name fonts in the arrival display section, making them easier to read. Transfer stations now appear with a dual-color block outline to improve contrast and visibility.
To better show branch line connections, animated light strip indicators have also been added. These help passengers quickly identify routes and directions.
For instance, Beitou Station now has a bold pink outline with a triangle indicating the direction to the Xinbeitou branch line. The consistent color coding improves navigation and reduces confusion.
Currently, one AI train is operating on each of the Red and Blue Lines. TRTC said it will continue to monitor usage and feedback to further refine the system and improve the passenger experience.
Real-time train tracking is available via the “Go! Taipei Metro” app on Google Play and the App Store, under the “Train Information” tab.
