‘Love and the City’ blends live drag, improv, and audience interaction

TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — In the neon-lit chaos of a lively party, participants of “Love and the City” are invited to navigate the complex web of emotions, relationships, and choices that define their lives.

Set in renowned drag queen venue Belle’s in Taipei, this immersive experience brings seven characters to life, each exploring different aspects of love. Running until March 2026, the production challenges traditional theater by blending live performance with real-time audience interaction.

As the drag queen show unfolds, the boundaries between the audience and the characters begin to blur, transforming the event into a dynamic, interactive experience where participants become part of the narrative. The production departs from conventional theater by eliminating fixed seating and a single viewpoint, replacing them with improv and spontaneous engagement.

Participants can choose to get involved in the action up close or observe from a distance. They will witness key moments, from pre-wedding doubts to the complexities of love and friendship, and may overhear unspoken confessions or see relationships on the brink of change, with each interaction shaping the evolving story.

The 120-minute experience guides participants through various corners of the party, offering the chance to engage with characters, immerse in the unfolding narrative, and enjoy three lightly alcoholic drinks to spark spontaneous connections. Whether attending alone or with friends, participants are encouraged to reflect on their emotional choices and see their own experiences mirrored in the characters’ journeys.

At its core, “Love and the City” explores the complexity and cost of love. Every conversation and encounter in the neon-lit party could alter the course of relationships, condensing moments of choice and resonance into a transformative experience.
