Changhua Racing Festival to take place Jan 4 and 5
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The 2025 Changhua Racing Festival, Taiwan’s largest closed-road motorsports event, will showcase electric, hybrid, and fuel-powered vehicles, organizers Taiwan Extreme Racing Development Association and Changhua County Government announced Thursday.
The event is set for Jan. 4 and 5 near the Taiwan High Speed Rail Changhua Station. It has drawn over 240 specialty vehicles across 30 race groups, per CNA.
Organizers emphasized the festival's technological focus, showcasing several high-performance electric cars. Changhua County Magistrate Wang Huei-mei (王惠美) said registration was filled quickly, with additional inquiries from domestic and international racers.
Drivers Hana Burton and Tsai Yu-hsuan (蔡雨軒) are expected to participate.
The competition has grown significantly, from 125 racers in its inaugural year to 252 this year. The race will close off 300 hectares of land around the THSR station, according to Taiwan Extreme Racing Development Association Chairman Tai Hsiao-hsiang (戴曉祥). Tai thanked local officials and organizations for their support.
This year’s race introduces international elements, such as a U-shaped repetitive segment to test drivers’ skills. Additional obstacles have been added to ensure both safety and excitement.
The county government said the event will include automotive and aftermarket exhibitors, along with an agricultural and textile fair. It hopes to draw international racers and promote inter-industry partnerships within a diverse festival atmosphere.
