台灣勞動部部長確認1月1日調高最低工資
Increase decided according to new Minimum Wage Act
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – On Jan. 1, the monthly minimum wage will rise 4.08% to NT$28,590 (US$874) from NT$27,470, Labor Minister Hung Sun-han (洪申翰) said Wednesday.
In addition, the hourly minimum wage will increase from NT$183 to NT$190, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) said at a year-end news conference. A total of 2.57 million workers are likely to benefit from the measures, said the MOL.
The hikes were decided by the Minimum Wage Deliberation Committee in September. The 21-member group, consisting of representatives from labor, employers, academics, and government, acted according to the Minimum Wage Act implemented on Jan. 1, 2024.
The MOL said it would contact local governments to ensure the wage hikes are implemented next week, per CNA. Hung said this is the ninth consecutive wage rise since the Democratic Progressive Party returned to power in 2016, when the minimum wage stood at NT$20,008.
