New center strengthens semiconductor supply chain resilience
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Taiwan and the Czech Republic unveiled the Advanced Chip Design Research Center (ACDRC) on Friday (Oct. 18).
The center, located in Brno, is part of a Taiwan-Czech partnership program to strengthen industrial ties and supply chain resilience.
Taiwan Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung (林佳龍) thanked the Czech government for its support of bilateral cooperation and said the two countries must work together to tackle challenges such as geopolitical shifts, economic security, industrial development, and environmental issues, according to a foreign ministry press release.
Lin said Taiwan is a global leader in chip manufacturing and design, while the Czech Republic has advanced technology and is located in a strategically significant geographic position. Taiwan-Czech collaboration will further strengthen the economic security and democratic resilience of both countries and democratic allies across Central and Eastern Europe.
President of Taiwan’s National Applied Research Laboratories, Tsai Hung-ying (蔡宏營), said the ACDRC bolsters bilateral ties and is a testament to the two countries’ commitment to advancing semiconductor development, talent cultivation, and innovative applications.
Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil said the center’s opening marks a new chapter in Taiwan-Czech cooperation. Czech Chamber of Deputies Speaker Marketa Pekarova Adamova said that Taiwan and the Czech Republic share common values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, facilitating cooperation across various fields. She hoped the momentum from opening the ACDRC would elevate Taiwan-Czech relations even further.
