Players deliver takeout in Taipei's Wanhua in 'Taiwan Driver-Car Racing X Sim'
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — A free mobile game featuring take-out deliveries in Taipei's Wanhua District has become the most downloaded title on iOS and Android app stores.
The game “Taiwan Driver-Car Racing X Sim” was published on the App Store by Chi-Chi Games in late September, and had been downloaded by over 100,000 people on the Google Play store alone as of Wednesday (Oct. 2). Some local media have dubbed it “Taiwan’s GTA.”
The game’s map is nowhere near the size of those featured in GTA titles, though players are treated to the novelty of riding a scooter or driving a car around Longshan Temple and adjacent night markets to deliver stinky tofu and other Taiwanese snacks to waiting customers. Racing on Taiwan’s mountain roads is also featured in the game.
The delivery simulator is pretty heavy on the in-game advertisements, though an update on Wednesday said that some were removed. The ads can be removed completely for NT$222 (US$6.99).
According to the game's description, it was developed after a previous title featuring similar gameplay in Japan’s Osaka. Other titles from the developer include “Japan Postman Moto Simulator” and “Japan Taxi Simulator: Driving.”
