Hsinchu City International Kite Festival to feature over 50 dragon kites and family activities
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Hsinchu City International Kite Festival will feature the world's largest collection of dragon kites, with over 50 soaring through the sky on Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.
The festival's theme, "Dragon Day," celebrates the Year of the Dragon. In addition to the daytime spectacle, visitors can enjoy a nighttime display of illuminated kites, per CNA.
The festival will feature new kinetic art installations, including a life-size dragon kite and a 15-meter-long, three-headed dragon. These installations will also be lit up at night.
Families can enjoy a variety of activities at the festival. These include performances and exploring the nearby Nanliao Stairway and 17-kilometer coastline.
To encourage mobile payments, visitors can redeem a commemorative kite at the designated exchange area when they spend at Hsinchu Harbor's Boguang Market, the seafood direct sales market, the shell market, or local Nanliao businesses. Only 500 kites are available each day.
Free shuttle buses will be available to take visitors directly from Hsinchu Railway Station or Shulintou parking lot to Hsinchu Harbor.
