Artist Hung Yi illustrated trains with images of food, sights
TAIPEI (Taiwan News) – Two trains in Los Angeles, California, will promote travel to Taiwan with colorful art by Hung Yi (洪易), the Tourism Administration said Tuesday (April 16).
The illustrations representing lions and dragons will be on view on the outside of the trains from Tuesday until the end of October, per CNA. One decorated light-rail train runs on the A Line between Long Beach and Azusa and the other one on the E Line between Santa Monica and East Los Angeles.
The project was announced at a news conference in Long Beach by LA Metro Communications Director Lan-Chi Lam and Tourism Administration Los Angeles office Director Lin I-chen (林宜錚). Hung explained the concept behind his art through video conferencing.
A red-and-white design on one of the trains features prominent Taiwanese sights, including Taipei 101, Sun Moon Lake, the Buddha on Mount Bagua in Changhua County, and the Matsu procession. The other train focuses on Taiwanese food like beef noodle soup, dumplings, bubble tea, and stinky tofu.
